Rules Olympic athletes must follow in Olympic Village

The Olympic buzz has started! The Paris Olympic Games start Friday, July 26th and eyes from all around the world will be watching. The Olympians have been getting ready, moving into their rooms and enjoying the Olympic Village. Yet, there are some ‘rules’ that all Olympians must follow in the Olympic Village.
- Olympic athletes are allowed to ride bikes in the Olympic Village
- Olympic athletes must reside with their own country – they can not share a room with anyone from another country
- Friends and family aren’t allowed in the Olympic Village (OV)
- Nursing athletes are allowed to brings infants into the OV
- Athletes personal security can only enter OV at certain times
- What sport is played and how many teammates determines the room sizes
- Athletes who are minors must room with other minors
- Athletes are allowed to customize their mattresses
- Alcohol is not allowed in Team USA’s Olympic Village
- Pets are not allowed in the Olympic Village
There are many more restrictions for athletes besides just the ten listed above. One big one that people may not realize is that athletes are eligible to stay in the Olympic Village, but it is NOT mandatory.
