The newest habitat at Denver Zoo is now open. The new “Down Under” habitat features species native to Australia and its surrounding areas, including red-necked wallabies, tree kangaroos and bright-blue cassowaries.
Formerly the site of Denver Zoo’s Bird World and part of the historic pachyderm habitat, Down Under makes up more than two acres of the zoo’s 80 acres.
The multi-species area has a first-of-its-kind immersive pathway experience with water-wise landscaping that echoes the animals native ranges and original artwork telling the story of first nations people.
