The Olympic surfing competition in Tahiti has provided some amazing photos. First, there was Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina appearing to float in air after jumping off his surfboard.
Today, nature took center stage when a breaching whale popped up behind the Olympic surfers. A humpback whale broke the surface Monday as Olympians Tatiana Weston-Webb from Brazil and Brisa Hennessy from Costa Rica faced off in a semifinal match.
Humpback whales are commonly seen off the waters of Tahiti between July and November as they are migrating according to the BBC.
