Alexander Mountain Wildfire grows over 5,000 acres

From 9News Wednesday:

 A fire burning west of Loveland grew to 5,080 acres on Tuesday night and was still 0% contained.

The Alexander Mountain Fire is one of three burning along the Front Range. On Wednesday morning, officials said the wildfire remained active overnight and no loss of structures or infrastructure has been reported.

Update from U.S. Forest Service at 10:08am

Multi-mission aircraft measured fire at 1,820 acres.

Update from 9:19am 

Per US Forest Service as of 6am, the fire is 992 acres with 0% containment. Multiple air resources dropped water & fire retardant yesterday. Over 200 ground resources are on scene. High temperatures & low humidity expected today over the fire area. Significant smoke expected over the next few days.

Air support has arrived on scene of #AlexanderMountainFire. 4 helicopters , 3 type 1 and 1 type 3 1 large airtanker aerial supervision – air attack 1 MMA on scene 1 additional Type 1 helicopter en route from Wyoming.

It’s hot, dry and summertime in Colorado.  With the lack of rain this season, that means wildfires are popping up and a big concern for Colorado residents.

According to 9News, a wildfire is forcing mandatory evacuations west of Loveland according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office posted on social media that people from Drake to Dam Store along Highway 34, including Storm Mountain and Palisade Mountain, must evacuate immediately.

Here are the MANDATORY evacuations FOR THE ALEXANDER MTN FIRE according to Larimer County Sherriff’s FB Page:

Mandatory Evacuations ordered for Alexander Mountain Fire. Citizens previously on Voluntary Evacuation status including Waltonia Rd, Sylvan Dale to Ellis Ranch, and Eden Valley to Sunrise Ranch are now under Mandatory Evacuation. Citizens near Bobcat Ridge and Flatiron Reservoir must EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY.

VOLUNTARY Evacuations:

Voluntary Evacuations ordered for citizens off of CR86C, north of Rustic and citizens off of Glade Rd from HWY 34 north to Indian Creek, and citizens off CR18E from CR31 to CR 29. GATHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS AND PREPARE FOR EVACUATION.
