Why do we celebrate Cinco De Mayo?

39% of Americans surveyed believe that we celebrate Cinco De Mayo because it’s “Mexican Independence Day” while 26% think it’s a celebration of Mexican-American culture. Finally 13% admit they have no idea what it’s really about. Just 10% of people know the correct answer:  Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla, which took place on May 5th, 1862 . . . 163 years ago.

Whether or not you knew the actual answer of why we celebrate have yourself a safe and happy Cinco De Mayo and if you do celebrate, do it responsibily 😉
