Disney’s ‘Descendants’ returns, also announces spinoff series

Okay, moms — buckle up, because Disney just handed us our next six months of dinner table conversation. We have already streamed “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” probably 50 times, and they are not even close to done with us.

“Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” breaks a 15-year Disney curse by bringing the franchise roaring back to life. For those of you who have somehow avoided this universe — first of all, how? — “Descendants” is Disney Channel’s biggest musical franchise ever, and this is its sixth feature-length project.

But wait. There’s more.

Disney also greenlit a spinoff called “Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story,” which follows the children of Disney sidekicks — yes, the sidekicks finally get their moment — directed by Jude Weng with a brand new cast.

The franchise has basically taken over the world at this point, with live-action series, animated series, books, albums and more.

My house? Absolutely unhinged about this news. I already know all the songs and dances and look forward to more.

No release date has been announced yet for the new project — but your kids will absolutely remind you daily until it drops.
