Whitney Houston Finally Got Her Barbie — And Honestly, It’s About Time
Aug 10, 2026, 10:07 AM
Mattel just dropped the Whitney Houston Barbie, and yes, we are absolutely crying about it.
The doll is inspired by Whitney’s jaw-dropping look from the 1987 “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” music video — you know, the one that made every girl in the ’80s want a curly updo and a sparkly dress immediately.
Here’s the really sweet part: Whitney herself helped kick off this project 20 years ago. It just took a little while to get here. Better late than never, Mattel.
The doll dropped on what would have been Houston’s 63rd birthday, which — not gonna lie — hits right in the feels.
Even better? Proceeds go toward the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, supporting scholarships and community programs in her honor.
So if your pre-teen daughters have been sleeping on Whitney Houston, this might be your moment. Pop on The Bodyguard this weekend, grab this Barbie, and give them a proper education in greatness.
You’re welcome, moms.
The Whitney Houston Barbie is available now through Mattel.
