The rocky Mountain Showdown, a rivalry between the University of Colorado and Colorado State is set for Saturday, but this is the last game of the tradition for the next 5 years. The two teams play in separate conferences, but the schools create a deal where the team would play each other in pre-scheduled matches, usually every few years.
However, the schools are taking a break after Saturday. In 2021, the two schools signed a contract for a six-game series from 2029 through 2038. During that time, the teams planned eight games over the next 18 seasons, which included a game in 2023 and 2024.
Here is the future schedule…..
2029 – Fort Collins, Canvas Stadium
2030 – Boulder, Folsom Field
2033 – Boulder, Folsom Field
2034 – Fort Collins, Canvas Stadium
2037 – Boulder, Folsom Field
2038 – Fort Collins, Canvas Stadium
The schedule seems to be all over the place, there is a reason for that spaced-out schedule. The tow-on, two-off format provides both schools some flexibility to schedule other n0n-conference opponents in other parts of the country, which play a role in several factors, including alumni engagement and recruiting. Both teams have some exciting other games planned in the future. However this game is the fifth most-watched game in college football according to ESPN. This years tickets are some of the most popular in the NCAA for this game week. For the first time since 1996, the Rocky Mountain Showdown is being held in Fort Collins with kick-off at 5:30pm
Ticket prices for Rocky Mountain Showdown soar to one of the priciest in NCAA this week
