Some say they are simply soaking up the sunshine while others believe they are there for a deeper reason, there are several myths that people have about why cats chose the Municipal cemetery as their place of residence. Some believe that they find various pests in it that are to their liking, others because of the kindness of the tourists, but perhaps the one that resonates the most within the community is the one related to the unexpected death of the son of the mayor of the time ( 2001). One day after her burial, a small black cat appeared on his grave. Since 1923 that family has been known as “the cats”, so the appearance of a feline on the grave of the Mayor’s son generated great curiosity within the family and a series of myths and legends in the people from this region.
