Dry conditions prompt fireworks warning from firefighters

Dec 28, 2025, 1:10 PM

Not enough moisture. We need more moisture. Even with the Sunday morning storm, it is not enough. Firefighters are urging caution with NYE celebrations.

The warm temperatures have been pretty nice lately — but when you mix that with how dry it’s been, it’s a recipe for serious fire danger.

That’s why firefighters are asking everyone to skip personal fireworks this New Year’s Eve and enjoy the big, professionally run city shows instead.

They totally get it. It’s the end of the year, emotions are high, and people are ready to celebrate and blow off some steam.

But right now, it only takes one spark to cause real damage.

Fire crews are hoping the public understands just how risky conditions are and why caution matters so much this year.

If you’re looking to celebrate, check out the cities hosting official fireworks displays and make a night of it.

These events have safety measures in place, and choosing them helps keep our neighborhoods, homes, and first responders safe.

A little extra care now means we can all head into the new year on a brightly and safely.
