Celine Dion’s Olympic opening ceremony performance is powerful

 

Celine delivered a powerful performance Friday night at the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremonies.  Dion suffers from Stiff Person Syndrome and has chronicled the difficulty she has had with breathing, living and not being able to perform. Dion has a new documentary series out on Prime Video called ‘I am: Celine Dion.’ In it you see Dion’s health battles and even a spasm that sends her to the hospital.

Friday night’s Opening Ceremony performance is the first time she has performed since revealing her diagnosis in December of 2022.

 

Dion dazzled audiences singing “Hymne à l’amour” on a stage at the base of the Eiffel Tower.  Dion shared in her Instagram account 

I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities! Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance. All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you! You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you!

Dion has teased that a comeback beyond her Olympics performance may be in the works in an interview with Variety magazine.
