This is Colorado’s hardest to book campground

Summertime in Colorado, there is nothing like it.  If you want to go camping in Colorado you have to plan ahead and book early.  Especially if you want to camp at Rocky Mountain National Park.  The Dyrt released a list of the hardest to book campgrounds in America and one in Colorado made the list.  The hardest campground in Colorado to reserve?  Aspenglen Campground in RMNP. 

According to the RMNP campground website, 

Aspenglen Campground is located on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park, near the Fall River Entrance to the park.

There are 51 campsites available by reservation only during the summer season.

The website also says this about making reservations

A number of campsites are available to be reserved up to 6-months in advance on a rolling window.

Some campsites are available to be reserved 2-weeks prior to your desired camping date.

Some campsites are available to be reserved 1-week prior to your desired camping date.

The Dyrt lists these are the top 10 most difficult to reserve campgrounds in America:

1. Nevada Beach Campground — Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Nevada
2. Twelvemile Beach Campground — Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan
3. Devils Garden Campground — Arches National Park, Utah
4. Seven Points Campground — J. Percy Priest Lake, Tennessee
5. Kirk Creek Campground — Los Padres National Forest, California
6. Hurricane River Campground — Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan
7. Aspenglen Campground — Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
8. Fruita Campground — Capitol Reef National Park, Utah
9. Colter Bay RV Park at Colter Bay Village — Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
10. Twin Lakes Campground — Inyo National Forest, California

As for Aspenglen Campground, the RMNP campground is booked 96.1% of the time that it is open.
