What a cool story. The inventor of the karaoke machine passed away at 100 years old. He sounded like such a great human.

He was a Japanese businessman named Shigeichi Negishi. He invented the Sparko Box machine in 1967, after one of his employees made fun of his singing voice.

Negishi never patented his invention, but his daughter says that never bothered him.  Quote, “He felt a lot of pride in seeing his idea evolve into a culture of having fun through song around the world.”

In his honor, someone did a survey and conducted some research to determine the 30 best karaoke songs for people who CAN’T SING (like me). #1 definitely a sing along song and now stuck in my head!
