By Jim Lawson on April 29, 2024

If you’re planning your next vacation, you probably are not looking for the most expensive place to visit. While many of us enjoy a staycation here in Colorado, you might want to look elsewhere.

A study conducted by Optimos Travel determined which American vacation spots cost the most and least across four categories: meals, transportation, accommodations and attraction fees.

The country’s most expensive vacation spot is Aspen, Colorado, with a week-long vacation costing $5,329.72 for an individual and $13,691.61 for a family of four.

The cheapest vacation spot is Outer Banks, North Carolina, with a seven-day cost of only $1,237.
