“Are you sick of all the Christmas music?” That is the main question that I get asked right now. I have to admit that I still love the Christmas music, but singing it for 42 hours straight might be too much for even me.
The “New York Post” says a man from Gloucester, England, recently set a new Guinness World Record by singing Christmas songs for 42 straight hours.
Dave Purchase sang 684 songs, with only a five minute break allowed each hour. He never lost his voice. Three choirs helped Dave break the record. Dave spent almost two days singing Christmas favorites from Mariah Carey to Wham! in an attempt to have his name on the Guinness Record.
Dave started hallucinating 32 hours in, but the choirs picked him up.
“I knew that if I could just keep myself awake, I keep myself physically focused, then I can get through this.
“It is a world record and this is what they are about. You literally push yourself to the actual limit to actually achieve that record.”
Dave chose 38 songs, which he repeated 18 times each – making a total of 684 songs.
Could you do that? I would fall asleep singing them. Read how he prepared for the Christmas music marathon here.
