Famous truck stop diner, Johnson’s Corner closes doors

Jan 13, 2025, 7:55 PM

I don’t think I can explain my obsession with Johnson’s Corner and their famous cinnamon rolls enough. I have traveled over an hour at times to to have a meal at Johnson’s Corner and enjoy their cinnamon roll. I even dated a trucker that lived not too far from Johnson’s Corner in Greeley. I even had the special order Cinnamon roll birthday cake one year for my birthday. I also liked the diner. I never had any complaints with the food.

I have to assume this is in part from the new Buc-ees that opened 10 months ago 3 miles away from Johnson’s Corner.

Johnson’s Corner opened in 1952. It’s restaurant is well-known for its cinnamon rolls. It became a Travel Centers of America Petro location in September 2014. TCOA Petro didn’t have a comment. Only a sign on the door saying that the restaurant was closed and bakery items could be bought in the store.

Guesses are that Johnson’s Corner will become the home of the new The Black Bear Diner. They are a restaurant chain with three locations in Colorado, they are listing Johnstown as the site of a future location.

I hope they decide to keep the cinnamon rolls. PLEASE buy the recipe and keep those cinnamon rolls. I can’t start 2025 like this. 🙂
