Colorado Woman’s Home Listed on Zillow — While She’s Still Living In It

Jul 31, 2026, 9:35 AM

Because apparently “occupied” is just a suggestion now.

A Colorado woman is fighting to keep her home after it was listed for sale on Zillow — without her permission and, yes, while she was literally still living there.

The listing went up without her knowledge, leaving her scrambling to figure out how a home she actually lives in ended up on the internet for strangers to tour and purchase.

Real estate experts say listing errors and fraudulent postings have become an increasingly serious problem, and homeowners are urged to periodically search their own addresses on major listing sites.

What you can do right now:

  • Google your home address regularly
  • Set up alerts on Zillow and Realtor.com for your property
  • Contact your county assessor’s office if something looks off

The woman is working with authorities to have the listing removed and her ownership rights protected.

Look, we’re all used to Zillow stalking other people’s homes at midnight — but nobody asked to be the listing. 😬

If something like this happens to you, contact the Colorado Division of Real Estate at dora.colorado.gov.
