Color of your child’s swimsuit equals water safety

Jun 8, 2024, 10:00 AM

Water safety experts emphasize the importance of the color of a child’s swimsuit in enhancing visibility and preventing drownings. Bright and contrasting colors like neon yellow, orange, pink, and bright red are recommended for better visibility in the water.

Tests conducted by a water safety company showed that certain colors, such as neon pink and neon orange, were most visible in swimming pools and lakes. While bright swimsuit colors can aid in spotting children in emergencies, effective supervision and other water safety measures remain crucial.

The CDC reports a rise in accidental drowning rates in the US, highlighting the importance of formal swimming lessons and other preventive measures to reduce the risk of drowning.
