There aren’t a ton of professional athletes who were born and raised in Colorado, but one of the best football players in the world currently, was…

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey ran away with the AP Offensive Player of the Year award. McCaffrey, San Francisco’s All-Pro running back, received 39 of 50 first-place votes for OPOY and earned 222 points, outpacing Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

McCaffrey, the son of Denver Broncos great Ed McCaffrey, was born and raised in Castle Rock, CO. Christian graduated from Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch in 2014 before going to Stanford University, where his father and mother both attended college.

Christian’s parents still live in Colorado, so he’s seen visiting his home state often during the NFL offseason, most recently at Red Rocks, where he joined country star Zach Bryan onstage to play the keyboard.
