The Broncos submitted their Large Development Review preapplication to the City and County of Denver for the new stadium.
The project description says, “Siting of a new Broncos football stadium and surrounding mixed-use development. This will include substantial above and below grade infrastructure, including roadways, utilities and open space.”
While the plans will be shaped and refined in partnership with the city and community, the 38-page document does give some early insight into the Broncos’ initial thought process with their new stadium, Leech said. As the Broncos move forward with their LDR preapplication, they also continue to engage simultaneously on both the Community Benefits Agreement and Small Area Plan processes.
According to the application, the Broncos hope to preserve some of the railyard’s past by turning the old locomotive shop into a community hub and reusing features like the rail turntable as focal points around the site. The application states that the Broncos have met with History Colorado and plan to work collaboratively to address potential impacts of the proposed development on historically significant portions of the site.
