Prepare to fall back for Daylight Savings Time

Colorado, its time to turn back the clocks one hour.
An extra hour of sleep sounds wonderful. Getting sleepy before you’ve finished dinner? Not quite as wonderful.
Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 1, at 2 a.m. Here in Colorado, we’ll turn clocks back one hour and return to Mountain Standard Time. That means brighter mornings and earlier sunsets.
Your phone might adjust automatically, but your body needs a little help. Our internal clocks respond to light and darkness, which help regulate melatonin—the hormone that signals it’s time to sleep. Changing the clock doesn’t instantly change that rhythm, so your usual bedtime may suddenly feel an hour too late.
A few ways to ease into the change:
- Make a small bedtime adjustment. Before Sunday, try going to bed about 15 minutes later each night instead of making the entire shift at once.
- Get some morning daylight. After the change, take a walk, step outside with your coffee or enjoy breakfast near a sunny window. Morning light helps your body clock adjust.
- Keep a steady routine. Once the clocks change, stick with consistent bedtimes and wake-up times—even on weekends. Aim for at least seven hours of sleep.
- Let evenings wind down. Dim bright lights and put away your phone before bed. Evening light can suppress melatonin and interfere with your body’s nighttime signals.
And before bed Saturday, remember the clocks that won’t change themselves: the microwave, oven and that dashboard clock you’ve been meaning to figure out since March.
