Another 80s fad is back

Apr 3, 2025, 7:11 AM | Updated: 9:52 am

Will they have a little more staying power this time around? That’s yet to be seen, but it’s starting to look like big 80s shoulder pads in women’s clothing are back. “Financial Times” did a story on the trend, as did “Vogue.” It was a popular look for women in the 1980s who wanted to seem hip and metropolitan. But, then people quickly decided shoulder pads were dumb, and they went away. Big shoulder pads were all over the fashion runways last fall, and now the shoulder pads are popping up in suits, blazers and blouses at stores.  Will the trend stick around longer this time or be another passing fad? We’ll have to wait and see.
