10 lies that 90’s parents told their kids

Aug 19, 2024, 11:53 AM

Parents in the 1990’s lied to their kids and we believed them!  Here are the top 10 lies that parents in the 90’s told their kids.  Do you remember hearing any of these?

  1. Drinking coffee stunts your growth
  2. If you pee in a pool, the water changes colors
  3. Chocolate milk comes from brown cows
  4.  A watermelon will grow in your stomach if you swallow the seeds
  5.  If you swallow gum, it takes 7 years to digest
  6. It’s illegal to drive with lights on inside the car
  7.  Sitting too close to the TV will ruin your vision
  8. Cracking your knuckles gives you arthritis
  9. You have to wait 30 minutes after eating to swim
  10. You won’t find a job if you have a tattoo

Taking a look at this list, how many did you score?  I have to say I remember hearing ALL of them as a kid. The worst one for me was the wait 30 minutes after you eat to swim, because you could get a cramp and drown.  The swallowing gum and it sitting in your gut for 7 years was another personal favorite.

Today’s kids wouldn’t fall for any of these, then again they have the power of the internet and can Google search just about anything.
