Women under 50 are sleeping less and more stressed out

Americans are more stressed and are sleeping less, but according to a new Gallup poll, it’s women under 50 that are being affected the most.

About 57 percent of American adults say they aren’t getting enough sleep at night. Just 42 percent say that they’re getting the sleep they need.

The results are almost the opposite of the 2013 poll, in which 56 percent of Americans said they got the sleep they needed, and 43 percent didn’t.

Women under 50 years of age reported getting the least amount of sleep. Just 27 percent said they got good sleep, compared to 46 percent of men under 50.

When compared to people over 50 years old, 44 percent of women and 51 percent of men got sleep.

Only 26 percent of people get the recommended eight hours of sleep per night. 53 percent of us get between six and seven hours of sleep a night.
