Colorado summer is in full swing but it’s going to take a bit longer before it really feels like summer at your favorite Denver grocery store. Your favorite Colorado produce won’t be here quite yet. Here is a timeline to let you know tentatively what to expect.
Palisade Peaches:..They are just starting to ripen in Palisade, and Denver is seeing the first varieties be sold around the city. While some are in smaller stores and farmers markets, major stores don’t have them yet. Most will appear in late July.
Would you like to drive out to Palisade and buy them or pick your own? You’ll find a full list of orchards and farms here
Sweet Corn:…Olathe sweet corn will show up around the same time as the peaches, with the first harvest estimated to be in the middle of July. The time to grab some corn will be during peak season in late August.
Rocky Ford melons:..The melons will be heading to the stores right after Palisade peaches and Olathe sweet corn. You should start seeing the melons in stores by August.
Green Chilis:.. These are the current timings for these guys, probably by mid-July. But it could change based on the weather.
ENJOY!!!
