The key to being a resilient person

How well do you handle life’s challenges?

Do you want to make 2025 different?

Resilience isn’t something people are born with—it’s a skill developed over time through experience.

Try these 9 tips from resilient people that have the ability to adapt, grow, and succeed despite hardships.

  1. Coping with grief. Grief is a complex emotion that can be triggered by events like the death of a loved one, losing a job, or the end of a relationship. Healing doesn’t mean the pain disappears. Resilient people learn to incorporate the loss into life.
  2. Own up to your mistakes. Accountability plays a crucial role in personal growth, allowing us to learn from our experiences and improve.
  3. Being mindful and not wasting thoughts. Mindfulness, the practice of staying present without judgment, can help reduce stress and build resilience.
  4. Let your guard down and learn from it. Vulnerability, often misunderstood as weakness, is vital for connection and personal growth.
  5. Choose forgiveness over resentment. Forgiveness is a powerful way to heal emotionally, though it can be difficult.
  6. Let go of a dream that isn’t working out. (I had to do this and it is hard.) Letting go of a dream can feel like a failure, but it’s often a brave act of self-awareness.
  7. Overcoming fear. Feeling fear is normal and confronting it helps build courage and confidence.
  8. You set boundaries for your well being. Setting boundaries is an essential part of maintaining self-respect and integrity.
  9. You have worked hard to have solid and supportive relationships.

Dr. Robert Waldinger, the director of the study, stresses, “Good relationships keep us healthier and happier. Period.”
