Leaving for Kansas to catch a flight, aka DIA, means some serious time management. When should you get to the airport to catch a flight? How much time should you allow to go through TSA?
Then general guidelines have recently been to get to the airport 2 hours before flights and 3 hours before international flights. If that sounds too early for you, here is what TSA says about their busiest times at DIA. Meaning it could take a little longer.
TSA’s Busiest DIA times:
4am – Noon
1pm – 3pm
The single busiest hour – the 3pm hour at DIA. That’s when people are getting there for late afternoon and early evening flights.
Busiest days at DIA:
Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday
If you’re fortunate to have TSA precheck, TSA says their goal is to get you through TSA precheck in 10 minutes or less. Standard TSA checkpoints have a goal of 30 minutes or less.
Before heading to the airport, it’s a great and easy idea to go to DIA’s website and check the security times. Plus, the site also has information about parking garages and which one has spots available.
