Science suggests having a “boy toy” can shorten a woman’s life

Say it isn’t so! Study from Sweden suggests cougars could be shortening their life spans by dating a younger man that is 10 years or more younger than her. However, the research also suggests the situation is not the same for older men and younger women in relationships where men tend to benefit from the union.

The study suggests the stress on the older woman trying to “keep up” with her active younger man can contribute to sending her to an early grave. Women with a partner with a 10 year age difference are 20% more likely to die earlier from any cause than a woman dating someone her own age.

Women tend to take on more stress in a relationship. The study suggests that cougars enjoy the “boy toy” but eventually fall into a caregiver role to their partner and the sexual health can suffer adding more stress physically and mentally to the woman.

Only 8% of heterosexual couples in the U.S. have an age gap of ten years or more. The age gap is wider for homosexual couples. 25% of homosexual men and 15% of homosexual women in relationships have an age gap of ten years or more.

9 out of 10 of the heterosexual couples, the man is older than the woman. Only 1 out of 10 couples was the woman being older.

What do you think? Kathie J thinks that dating a younger man might be a good way to go.
