Driving up or down Lookout Mountain at night can feel scary. Lookout Mountain road is also one of the most scenic and iconic roads in the Denver metro area.
Starting November 11th, a four mile of the road will have automated night-time gates. The gates will be along a four mile stretch which starts around the Chimney Gulch Trail pullout and then up the road from Golden. The other is around Lookout Mountain Park and goes to before Buffalo Bill Museum.
A possible change according to a recent article would be adding some bike lanes in the most dangerous areas of the road. Those changes have not been make or approved yet. Jefferson county officials could consider bike lane changes as early as next year.
