Power still out and schools closed from weekend wind storm

Denver, CO – As of Monday morning, Xcel Energy said that power was still out for around 49,000 people.  Xcel is hoping to have the majority of those people back with power by Monday evening.  The weekend’s storms had winds that in some areas reportedly hit 100 mph.

Xcel has said that they preemptively shut off power for some people on the western side of the city after fear of the winds and power causing wildfires.

Some schools in the Denver metro area, especially Jefferson County, had to cancel school Monday because of not having power.  You can find the list here.
