Our streaming options might get smaller soon.
Netflix has entered a deal to purchase Warner Bros. and HBO for around $80 billion. The merger would add a big part of HBO’s offerings to Netflix, but Netflix says HBO (Max) would remain its own streaming entity. It also mentions that Warner Bros. movie productions wouldn’t be changed, as it has a film schedule set up through 2029 at this point.
Whether or not this will turn out to be a good thing for consumers or raise prices is yet to be seen. No word on when the deal could be finalized.
