Littleton’s Alamo Drafthouse renamed after Denver Icon Pam Grier

May 14, 2026, 6:02 PM

Denver’s own Pam Grier is getting the hometown honor she deserves.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is officially renaming its Littleton location The Pam Grier Cinema on Friday, May 15th. The celebration event features a rare 35mm double feature of Foxy Brown and Jackie Brown, plus a longform on-stage conversation with Grier about her career and legacy.

The bad news? The celebration event is sold out.

The good news? Encore 35mm screenings are planned throughout the summer, and commemorative Pam Grier Cinema items will be available at AlamoMart.com.

A graduate of Denver’s East High School, Grier rose to fame in the 1970s as what Quentin Tarantino called cinema’s first female action star.

Despite Hollywood success, she’s lived on a farm in Colorado for over two decades.

On Live with Kelly and Mark, she said living in Colorado gives her the balance to sustain her career — calling herself “military, rural, and urban — the best of all worlds.”

Her roots here run deeper than most people know: “My people were homesteading in Colorado before Emancipation.”

And here’s a detail that makes this even more special — when Alamo Drafthouse first opened this Littleton location in 2013, its very first event was An Evening with Pam Grier. Now, 13 years later, the entire theater bears her name.

Colorado proud. Colorado legend

I had the honor of meeting Pam Grier when she called into my morning radio show from her horse stables to comment on a topic we had. Larry, Kendall and I couldn’t believe it was her but the moment she started talking we knew. We invited her to the radio station and she was a true light to have visit. She is a powerhouse. She told us the funniest story of Snoop Dogg coming to visit her house and horses down near the Springs.

Pam Grier is all about resilience in life and Hollywood. Only Spike Lee and John Hughes have theaters named after them. Now Pam Grier does too. Better late than never for our Colorado Queen.

Watch her interview with 9news where she tell’s Kim Christiansen, “I’m not saying I watch your ass….I’m just saying….” here
