Lindsey Vonn crashes only seconds into Olympic downhill race

I was pulling for her and the history. So sad to see this happen in the first days of the Winter Olympics 2026. I do know she is a dynamite athlete and this is not her ending!

Lindsey Vonn, a seasoned skier, crashed spectacularly on the Olympic downhill course in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The crash occurred early in her run due to a challenging right turn that caused her to lose control and clip a gate.

Vonn underwent surgery for a broken leg, but was in stable condition. The mandatory safety air bag in her racing suit may have softened her landing, and further analysis of the data from the air bag is awaited.
