Doug Moe has passed away at the age of 87. Doug always looked at the positive in everybody. His friends and teammates are sharing wild stories about the man, the myth and the legend of Moe.

His teams played the passing game. He never won a title, but he will go down as one of the top three Nuggets coaches.

Moe was at the helm in Denver between 1980 and 1990. He built one of the most exciting offenses of its time and also had three separate stints as assistant coach of the franchise.

He racked up a remarkable 432 wins as head coach of the Nuggets, reaching the NBA playoffs in nine consecutive seasons and winning Coach of the Year in 1987-88.

On Tuesday, the Nuggets paid tribute to a ‘one-of-a-kind’ leader, who leaves behind a wife, Jane, and a son, David.

‘The Denver Nuggets organization was devastated to learn of the passing of legendary coach Moe,” the team said in a statement. “Coach Moe was a one of a kind leader and person who spearheaded one of the most successful and exciting decades in Nuggets history.”

He will forever be loved and remembered by Nuggets fans, and his banner commemorating his 432 career victories as head coach will hang in the rafters to forever honor his incredible legacy.
