TMZ reported Kris Kristofferson, the iconic country musician and actor known for his role in the 1976 adaptation of “A Star Is Born,” has passed away, as confirmed by a statement from his family. The singer-songwriter died peacefully at his residence in Maui, Hawaii on Saturday. His family expressed gratitude for the moments they shared with him, although they did not disclose the cause of his death.
The statement also tells fans “when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all” …seemingly a reference to his song “Here Comes That Rainbow Again.”
Kristofferson got his big break in Hollywood with his role opposite Barbra Streisand in the 1976 remake of A Star Is Born. His performance as self-destructive rocker John Norman Howard earned him a Golden Globe Award in 1977.
