One of KOSI 101.1 beloved team members, Jonny K, is putting his energy and time into running the Chicago marathon for the kids and families of Denver’s Ronald McDonald Houses.
If you’ve ever trained for a marathon then you know the work, commitment and time that it takes to train for pushing your body 26.2 miles. For Jonny, it’s not about him, but about raising support for the families and children who stay at Denver’s two Ronald McDonald Houses.
“I’ve been fortunate and blessed with my health throughout my years, especially in my childhood where I played games like “kick the can” or “ghost in the graveyard”. That playfulness led me to run in college and keep my healthy habits today. It absolutely breaks my heart to see kids suffer from sickness and diseases that cause them to miss out on these simple, playful joys in life.
On top of that, In working with KOSI 101.1 I’ve heard first-hand from families the hardships they have faced while having a child in the hospital. I too have close family members and friends who’ve gone above and beyond to help their babies/kids when they’ve had complications or sickness. Everyone needs help!
I am running the Chicago Marathon for these kids and their loving families who would do anything for them. I may not have all the money in the world to help them by myself, but thanks to Ronald McDonald House Charities I can use my running ability to help these families in need. Any donation goes further than I could possibly run and is greatly appreciated!”
If you’ve listened to KOSI 101.1 you know that every year KOSI hosts a one day ‘Radiothon’ for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver. It’s a one day event that has raised millions of dollars locally since it’s inception. KOSI believes in strengthening our community and families by getting involved and raising the money that’s needed so that no family ever receives a bill for staying at the RMHC of Denver.
