Phish won the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan vote with 330,000 votes, followed by Bad Company, Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper and Joe Cocker. The inductees will be announced Sunday night on “American Idol.”
Bad Company came in second with 281,000, followed by Billy Idol with 260,500.
Cyndi Lauper finished fourth with 237,000, and Joe Cocker rounds out the Top 5 with 234,000. The rest of the Top 10, in this order: Soundgarden, Chubby Checker, the Black Crowes, Mariah Carey and Joy Division/New Order.
The fan vote doesn’t have a ton of influence on who makes the Hall.
It only counts for a single ballot, among roughly 1,200 that are cast. But, there’s only one year when the winner of the fan vote didn’t make the Hall – The Dave Matthews Band in 2020. But, they got in four years later.
