Heavy traffic expected on I-70 this weekend.

DENVER – If you’re heading up the hill this weekend, be prepared for some major traffic on the I-70, says the Colorado Department of Transportation. (CDOT) There are three events taking place in the mountains: Breckenridge’s annual International Snow Sculpture Championships,  the  Freestyle Competition in Vail and the X Games in Aspen.

On top of that, there’s a wintry mix of snow falling today from the front range through the mountains. CDOT says all these factors are likely to cause some traffic issues. To avoid unnecessary delays, it’s recommended that motorists plan ahead and consider using bus services like Bustang, Snowstang, and Pegasus. These options are an affordable and convenient transportation option for travelers attending any of the events in Aspen, Vail or Breckenridge.

If you’re traveling by car, make sure to check out COtrip.orgor download the COtrip app for the latest road and travel updates.

As always when traveling in Colorado, be prepared for any weather or traffic event.

Travelers are urged to “know before you go.” Gather information about weather forecasts and anticipated travel impacts and current road conditions prior to hitting the road. CDOT resources include:
