All. The. Dgos. Happy National Golden Retriever Day today. If you love all things “Golden,” head out to Golden Saturday.
Golden is gearing up for the annual Goldens in Golden celebration, which has grown into a national phenomenon since its start in 2019.
Washington Avenue will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Organizers said only leashed, trained and friendly dogs are allowed.
There will be three opportunities for a group photo near the “Welcome to Golden” arch. The official photos will be taken at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. Participants are asked to RSVP at this link to help Golden plan for an “extra-golden day.”
Free parking will be available at The Splash at Fossil Trace from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a shuttle directly to Parfet Park. A rideshare drop-off and pick-up will be located at the Clear Creek Parking Lot at 907 Archer St.
The weather forecast for Saturday calls for partly sunny and warm conditions, with a high temperature of 62 degrees on Saturday.
The event, set for Feb. 7, will bring thousands of furry visitors to the city, providing a much-needed boost to local businesses during a slow month.
The Golden Mill will host a kickoff “Paws-ty” with live music and a Golden Retriever ice sculpture, while the city has expanded the event to accommodate the large number of attendees from across the country.
Whether you’re there for the group photo under the Golden Arch or just to enjoy a pup cup, the 2026 Goldens in Golden event promises a day filled with wagging tails and golden coats.
I love Colorado so much.
