Fire in Thornton destroys nearly 150 cars at local business

Feb 26, 2026, 5:57 PM

The grass fire that started off of 84th and Huron in Thornton on Wednesday quickly spread to a nearby car restoration company.

Rol Race Motorsports had about 150 vehicles parked on its lot when the fire came through and they are a total loss.

Cars that clients had big dreams of seeing restored have now turned into nightmares.

Thank goodness to the first responders that attacked the fire head on to keep it from spreading to nearby houses.

The Thornton Parks and Rec are also being praised for keeping the field trimmed so that when the fire did start, there was not a lot of overgrow to burn.

Jason Rol, the owner is still trying to make sense of what happened as well as call his customers.

Rol counted 148 destroyed vehicles on his lot. Some of the cars were used for parts, but many were dream cars being restored to their former glory days, he said.

“I haven’t even gone through and figured out who exactly I have to notify yet. A lot of the cars, as you can tell, are hard to recognize now,” Rol said.
