Fake Colorado temporary license plates become easily available online

You see expired license plates a lot when driving around. But now officials are dealing with a new problem….fake temporary tags.  Officers say these temporary fake paper plates are being purchased from individuals online through different websites, ads, social media or even the comfort of their home. Legal Colorado temporary plates have a genuine hologram with the state of Colorado seal, among several other security features. There are two says you can get areal temporary plates. If you get caught with a fake license plate you will get a citation, face a class 2 traffic misdemeanor and a conviction which may result in a fine, plus court cost, surcharges and a points on your record.
