Denver’s Regional Transportation District will offer free fares on buses and light rail trains on Wednesday in honor of Transit Equity Day, celebrating civil rights leader Rosa Parks.
Customers can ride RTD services at no cost throughout the day, including bus, rail, FlexRide and Access-a-Ride. The fare will also be waived for Access-on-Demand trips, with customers responsible for any portion exceeding the $20 per-trip subsidy.
Transit Equity Day, observed on Parks’ birthday, aims to promote equity and access to public transportation, recognizing its importance in connecting individuals to resources and opportunities.
RTD’s General Manager and CEO emphasized the role of public transportation in providing mobility, dignity and self-determination for all individuals.
