Just another day and another reason to love living in Colorado. A new study by SmartAssest looked at numerous factors for what makes a neighborhood ‘safe’ and found that Colorado has many of the safest neighborhoods in the U.S.
The study looked at factors such as rates of violent crime, property crime, motor vehicle deaths, drug overdose deaths and excessive drinking.
Then study looked at the top 360 suburbs and ranked them as safest to least safest from a number one to 360. The criteria for the 360 neighborhoods meant they had to be within a 15 to 45-minute drive from the 100 largest U.S. cities.
How did Colorado suburbs compare to the rest of the country?
Here are suburbs of Colorado that made the 1-360 list:
- No. 47 – Castle Rock
- No. 160 – Broomfield
- No. 224 – Woodland Park
- No. 287 – Fountain
- No. 315 – Golden
- No. 336 – Lakewood
The data found that Lakewood struggled with property crime and the percentage of adults who engaged in excessive drinking.
