Colorado State Patrol says if you are on I 25 today be aware of a huge enforcement

If you were planning on treating the left lane of Interstate 25 like your personal Mario Kart track this Wednesday, the Colorado State Patrol has some unfortunate news for your lap times.

Five law enforcement agencies are staging a coordinated “please stop driving like a maniac” operation on the south Denver stretch of the interstate. Joining the party are the Colorado State Patrol, the Arapahoe and Douglas county sheriff’s offices, and the Greenwood Village and Lone Tree police departments.

The operation is specifically hunting for lane-weaving enthusiasts and speed demons who treat the speed limit like a baseline suggestion rather than a rule.

According to the State Patrol, this isn’t just about ruining your morning commute. Last year, troopers responded to 102 injury and fatal crashes on I-25 in Arapahoe and Douglas counties alone. Those crashes resulted in dozens of injuries and three people who didn’t make it home—so, surprisingly, the police would like you to stop crashing.

For those who find the “Move Over” law a bit too complex to navigate, here is the cheat sheet: If you see an emergency vehicle or even a regular car with its hazard lights on, you are legally required to move over at least one lane.

If you find yourself boxed in by other drivers and cannot safely move over, the law says you must slow down to a “safe speed.” And no, “safe” does not mean “only five miles over the limit.”

Consider this your fair warning: The “I didn’t see the sign” excuse is unlikely to work when five different agencies are watching you from the shoulder.
