Colorado one of nine states with bad Botox

Federal agencies and state health departments are investigating reports of harmful reactions to counterfeit or mishandled botulinum toxin injections, commonly known as Botox, in nine states. States affected include Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee and Washington.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that 19 people across these states experienced adverse effects after receiving injections from unlicensed individuals or in non-healthcare settings. Nine individuals have been hospitalized, and four were treated with botulism antitoxin due to concerns of spreading beyond the injection site.

Symptoms include blurry vision, drooping eyelids, difficulty swallowing and slurred speech. The CDC advises getting botulinum toxin injections only from licensed practitioners to prevent illness.
