It’s wildfire season in Colorado and it’s also time to be vigilant and take precautions against accidentally sparking a wildfire.
According to the Summit Daily News, authorities managed to control a small wildfire, approximately a quarter of an acre in size, that was discovered east of Breckenridge in unincorporated Summit County on Sunday, July 7. The blaze started in a clearing along a ridge line with a view of the north side of Breckenridge’s Wellington Neighborhood and was reported just before 1 p.m., according to David Boyd, spokesperson for the White River National Forest. The fire is thought to have been sparked by a still-burning campfire. Boyd emphasized the importance of taking the necessary precautions when leaving a campfire.
