Golden woman creates a dating ad for her Tarantula—and finds a match

Don’t tell my single girlfriends that a tarantula found a date before they did.
Dating in Colorado can be tough—even for those with eight legs.
Taylor Foley of Golden turned to Reddit to help her Costa Rican zebra tarantula, Asmodeus, find a mate.
Her attention-grabbing headline? “Mature male Aphonopelma seemanni tarantula seeking hot spider date near him.”
His interests include crickets, hiding in his burrow and being mysterious.
Honestly, I’ve seen dating profiles with less personality.
Foley adopted Asmodeus in January 2023, initially believing he was female. After noticing him getting restless in his terrarium, she decided to play matchmaker.
The post attracted attention—and a potential match. Foley plans to bring Asmodeus to Wild West Inverts, where he’ll spend a few weeks with a breeder for a chance to meet a female.
If things go well and an egg sac hatches, he could become the father of hundreds of baby spiders. Foley says she would keep a couple, with the others sold to shops, breeders or individuals.
Hundreds? Maybe we shouldn’t support this connection after all. I guess it’s one successful dating success story I do now want crawling across my screen.
