Man drives armored vehicle and yells at neighbors in Arvada

Have you ever experienced neighborhood drama? It’s real and sometimes things can escalate and become fatal.

Thank goodness there were no fatalities in the Arvada standoff between Mike Dias and Chris Hunnel over the weekend in Arvada. It was actually a recreation of their drama for a tv show. Or was it?

You know neighbor drama is next level when an armored military vehicle rolls down your cul-de-sac.

That’s exactly what happened on Lamar Drive in Arvada last Friday when Mark Dias rode on top of a tank-style vehicle, shouting through a megaphone while cameras rolled for Season 2 of HBO’s Neighbors — a reality series about chaotic disputes between neighbors.

The vehicle was parked with a banner reading “Make me move it” and some choice words.

Dias says he was just following the show’s instructions and that everyone on the block knew it was coming. They just failed to pull permits.

His neighbor Chris Hunnel — who’s been feuding with Dias for a decade over things that reportedly started with a boat in a driveway — didn’t think it was funny.

Things escalated when another neighbor came outside with a rifle, though no one was hurt and no arrests were made.

Arvada police say they were never notified about the shoot, can’t confirm permits were pulled, and are still investigating. HBO skit or not — you can’t just roll a tank through the suburbs, folks.
