Colorado wants to return unclaimed money and jewelry

Money! Money! Money! Your money! Could it be true? Could there be money out there that you forgot about?
The Colorado Department of the Treasury is asking Coloradans to check its website to see if it’s holding cash or valuables that belong to you. Feb. 1 is National Unclaimed Property Day, so they wanted to spend this week getting the word out.
Right now, the state has around $2.5 billion to get back to the right person. He said Coloradans need to make a claim on their website, and a check could be heading your way.
There are a variety of valuables from vintage baseball cards, expensive jewelry, bars of silver and gold and a variety of unique valuable items.
To find out if you have long lost treasure, go online to Colorado find your property here. It can take up to 90 days to have your claim approved, and often they will ask for additional information to confirm it belongs to you.
