On average we consume 3500 calories per day at Halloween

The average adult will consume 3500 calories of sugar this Halloween. You can double that if you have kids. It’s important to counter the sugar with protein. You also need to walk at least 2 hours trick or treating to burn some calories.

Binging on Halloween candy can also cause an upset stomach.

Some sweets are better for your gut microbiome than others.
Halloween candy can disrupt the trillions of microorganisms in your belly, and sugar can impair your gut’s ability to digest food, said Gastroenterologist Christopher Damman.

Sugar-coated nuts and candy apples are slightly better for your stomach, as they will contain fiber.

Dark chocolate with at least 80% cacao may encourage helpful bacteria to grow.

The worst offenders? Everything Halloween. LOL. Chewy candies. “These sugar-laden confections are mostly made of high fructose corn syrup, saturated fat, and additives,” Damman writes. “They can increase the unsavory bacterial species in your gut and lead to inflammation, making them one of the least healthy Halloween choices.”

Does this change what you will be putting in your mouth? Every year I just turn my head and candy falls in my mouth so I need to check myself as well.
